Virgo: August 23 - September 22
Virgo Likes and Dislikes
By Brian Palenske
Our list of Virgo likes and dislikes. Virgo is born under the rule of Mercury and the element of Earth. The result is a
quiet, efficient, perfectionist with a pension for doing things in an orderly and systematic way.
Our list of major Virgo likes and dislikes:
Being part of a team - Virgos like doing things on their own, but are seldom "glory hounds";
they prefer having a role to play as part of a team that allows them to contribute their expertise to a greater effort.
In many professional situations, you're more likely to find the Virgo as the research specialist, surgical assistant
or personal secretary than as the spokesman or team leader, unless they are doing a job that no one else can.
Being helpful - Even in personal situations, the Virgo loves being helpful and useful; they'd rather
find the solution that solves the problem than take credit for solving it themselves.
Doing things in an orderly and systematic way - Virgos, even when they don't admit it, like doing
things in an orderly and systematic way; they will often have recipes and formulas stashed away in their prodigious
memories just waiting for the opportunity to entertain another with a proper souffle or a perfectly assembled and tuned
stereo system. They tend to plan their affairs carefully, so that their efforts get the results they should; Virgos take
great delight in things turning out well, even if they are only dressing up for an informal occasion.
Working toward defined goals - Their goals are often based on doing things perfectly; they pay careful
attention to details and expect the best, rather than hoping for it.
Being social - The typical Virgo enjoys social activity, but their idea of a social life is focused on
intimate conversations in an atmosphere full of exciting details with like-minded friends; you're more likely to find
a Virgo enjoying the company of people in a quiet nightclub or museum or literary group than a monster truck rally,
unless they are one of the mechanics, busily tuning the machines for optimum performance.
Crowds - Some say that Virgos are not fond of social life; but the truth is that they don't like
crowds, because there are too many variables to enable them to relax and enjoy themselves. When in a crowd, the Virgo
will often wait for the opportunity to speak to someone they want to have a conversation with, and if the opportunity
doesn't arise, they may just leave to keep from rudely interrupting or being a pest.
Vulgarity and careless behavior - Virgos can't stand vulgar language or careless behavior; they
simply can't understand why people act without considering how their actions may affect their future. They also
don't understand carelessness, because they want to do things in the best possible way, no matter how mundane the
task may be, consequently, they become really annoyed with people who try to assemble things without looking at the
instruction manual, or treat their property as if it was meaningless to them.
Being unprepared - Virgos are also critical of their own behaviors, and can't abide walking into a
situation unprepared for what might happen.
Disorganization - They're not known to give extemporaneous talks, even on their favorite subjects;
if they're not carrying well-organized notes, then they've rehearsed and even prepared for the cleverest answers
for possible questions.
Revealing secrets - One of the most trustworthy signs of the Zodiac, they are fairly secretive, and will
never spoil a movie or book for someone who has not read it, much less reveal personal information about themselves or
